I’m Emily, and I have bad opinions.
What was more important to childhood Emily than getting the best American girl doll (which was very clearly Josefina. Spoiler alert, I got Felicity), or winning the neighborhood game of Release? Having an opinion that was different from everyone else’s.
For years growing up I prided myself in being a contrarian, a hipster, a “free thinker” to a fault, where my opinions weren’t just bad, but also objectively wrong, and subjectively annoying. As an adult, I have since grown out of this attitude. I have no shame agreeing with the masses, I cried when I got One Direction tickets in 2015, I don’t think pineapple should go on pizza, and the toilet paper roll definitely goes over NOT under. However, when you repeat a lie enough times and it becomes the truth, and it’s quite possible some “bad” opinions still run in my blood to this day.
Hence, Chronically Bad Opinions. To be crystal clear, I personally do not think my opinions are bad, but I also don’t take myself too seriously and encourage those to disagree with me. However, unlike childhood Emily, adult Emily enjoys finding others who share her opinions.
I read a lot, and I form opinions a lot.
CBO is a place for me to share my opinions on all things book related in my life no matter how good or bad, and find a community who can laugh along with each other’s true feelings.
Although CBO may seem like all opinions are welcome, please understand that is NOT the case. CBO is a fun, lighthearted, welcoming community. There is a difference “bad” or differing opinions, and hurtful or damaging opinions.
CBO is first and foremost a safe space for ALL. Everyone is welcome here and any activity deemed harmful or discriminatory will be removed.
